Believe it or not… a cruise may be your best option. There’s TONS of activities catered to everyone’s age groups. Since you are flexible on the dates, you can probably get a great deal on a suite. I like to book through travelocity.com, though vacationstogo.com is also a great cruise pricing site.
There are a lot of good deals on travel sites such as Expedia.com , Travelocity.com, or Orbitz.com ! Plus they will give you flights to choose from and also hotels, restraunts, and other attractions close to where your airport and hotel are.
Camping or RVing
With flexibility, you have instant savings! There are last minute vacations available on cruises, airlines and all types of trips. Type in last minute vacation deals on yahoo or google and you’ll be amazed at the savings.
If you are looking for special destinations like Disney – check right after schools start – 2nd week of September or early January are extra value periods.
Decide where with a first, second and third choice and if value if your driving force – let the $$$$$ take you to the best deal!

Our family loves to go camping… about the cheapest vacation you can ever do! Even if you don’t like to camp, however, National Parks make a great cheap vacation, because the entertainment is cheap (scenic driving, taking pictures, hiking, hanging out by the lake/river, ranger-led activities, etc.)
From San Antonio, you might have some driving to do to get to an NP, but there are options in the southwest (Carlsbad, Grand Canyon, Southern Utah) or you could try to find cheap flights to nearby cities and rent a minivan to auto-tour through some parks.
